Larry l. Bans, md

Larry L. Bans, MDDr. Bans has been a practicing urologist in Phoenix for 25 years.  He earned his bachelor’s degree Summa Cum Laude at the University of Minnesota and attended medical school at Cornell University Medical College.  He later received his general surgery and Urology training at Indiana University.  He is board-certified by the American Board of Urology.

In 1983 he joined Urology Associates in Phoenix, where he practiced General Urology for 20 years.  In February of 2003 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent a radical retropubic prostatectomy.  In October 2003 he left Urology Associates to start his own practice, Prostate Solutions of Arizona (“PSA”), where he has specialized exclusively in prostate diseases. 

Dr. Bans has been a peer-selected “Top Doc” in PHOENIX Magazine each year since the magazine started the special issue 14 years ago.  He is active in numerous prostate research projects and has been appointed the National Director of Sports Legends Prostate Cancer Projects.  He recently produced a patient education video entitled Your Prostate Biopsy is Positive: Here's What You Should Know.

Dr Bans is currently beginning an Active Surveillance program for patients with prostate cancer who desire “watchful waiting” and no active treatment. He also will soon add a Men’s Health Division to his practice, which will involve many of the issues related to Testosterone supplementation and replacement, as well as monitoring and treating potentially harmful side effects associated with the hormonal therapy of Prostate Cancer.
